For International Literacy Day (8th September), we had a dream - we wished that 100 people would volunteer to conduct storytelling sessions across the country. We ended up finding more than 250 champions to conduct storytelling sessions across the country. We will be sharing the stories of all our champions through our blog.
This story was sent by Nanda Ramesh.
Reading at Bangalore, 8th September 2012
Place: Brigade Classic Apartments, Basavanagudi, Bangalore.
Time: 4-6pm
# of Kids: 8
All the kids were super excited about this event and came clutching a favorite book of their own as part of our overall activity. First up was Susheela's Kolam. They were quite involved with Susheela as she went about drawing Kolams all over the place. If given the chance they said they would have drawn kolams on fans, windows, buildings, stars and behind peoples back! After this story, they read their stories in turn. After that, they all immersed themselves in some serious Kolam drawing in our lobby area, appropriately around a Ganesha Idol. Overall, a thoroughly enjoyable evening for all, adults and kids!
Thank you Nanda for spreading the joy of reading!
