For International Literacy Day (8th September), we had a dream - we wished that 100 people would volunteer to conduct storytelling sessions across the country. We ended up finding more than 250 champions to conduct storytelling sessions across the country. We will be sharing the stories of all our champions through our blog.
This story was sent by Neha Bansal.
8th September 2012 – International literacy day! On this day we did story telling session on story “Susheela ke Kolam” which has been sent by Pratham Books. This event was open for public so, children not only from our school but from different school also came for story listening and they enjoyed a lot.
All kids shared their experience how they celebrate different festival and how they make kolams at their homes. They also enjoyed the concept of making kolam in sky. It was very exciting for kids that how anyone can make kolam in sky with Air plane. We gave them colours then they made kolam which was very beautiful. They were so happy to see it.
“Susheela ke kolam” was simple, beautiful and interesting story for kids which they liked a lot. While listening story all kids were imagining how Susheela looks in which class she studies, where she lives etc.
We all enjoyed a lot and I am very happy that I am part of Pratham Books campaign. Pratham Books is doing great work. Hats off to them.
