Pratham Books Champion : Lafarge India

This International Literacy Day, Pratham Books has taken a 1000 steps towards a 'Reading India'

What started as a small step by Pratham Books to spread the joy of reading has become a movement. Last year Pratham Books initiated the One Day-One Story initiative on the occasion of International Literacy Day and we conducted over 250 storytelling sessions. This year we are delighted that over a 1000 sessions are happening across the length and breadth of the country. We will be sharing the stories of all our champions through our blog.

Camille Gonsalves from Lafarge India shared the following note and pictures about Lafarge India's participation in this year's International Literacy Day celebrations :

Thank you supporting our Joy of Reading initiative for the Pratham literacy day activity. Lafarge has initiated in across 10 locations where we have a presence, with over 100 employees volunteering to read Paplu the Giant to over 1500 children!

6th September : A group of us read to the children of Saint Catherines Home in Mumbai as part of our volunteer CSR program. We enjoyed our story telling session as much as they did!

The children were delightful and kept asking us to read more stories to them. They loved the Pratham books, balloons and packets of biscuits we brought with us.

Thank you Camille and Lafarge India employees for spreading the joy of reading!
