Pratham Books Champions : Kassanndra M R and Harini Suresh

This International Literacy Day, Pratham Books has taken a 1000 steps towards a 'Reading India'

What started as a small step by Pratham Books to spread the joy of reading has become a movement. Last year Pratham Books initiated the One Day-One Story initiative on the occasion of International Literacy Day and we conducted over 250 storytelling sessions. This year we are delighted that over a 1000 sessions are happening across the length and breadth of the country. We will be sharing the stories of all our champions through our blog.

Kassanndra M R shared the following note about the storytelling session conducted by her and Harini Suresh (Date : 6th September, Storytelling sessions: 2) :

I am currently a fellow with Teach For India and am placed in Chennai. Today was a very special day at CPS Koyambedu, Chennai! The new, bright and beautifully illustrated Pratham books had all eyes on it as my co-fellow and I introduced it to our classes. I conducted one private session for my own classroom completely in English. My co-fellow Harini Suresh and I conducted a bilingual session after school for all the interested students from higher grades. So much DRAMA, so much excitement and SO much Happiness. The pictures speak for themselves! =D

P.S. The activity we administered for the day was 'Operation Paplu Paiyaa Dress-Up' which involved 21 tailors who sure knew their numbers! =D Also, Harini Suresh's expressions and acting skills REALLY put the life into the story. We had some guest performances from the students themselves.

Thank you Kassanndra and Harini for spreading the joy of reading!
