Preetika Suri sent us the following story she, Ishita Paul, Harshini Shanker and Shubham Gautam (all Teach for India Fellows) coordinated a storytelling session that involved their entire school. They are 4 Teach for India fellows teaching 4 english-medium classrooms at MCD school Said-ul-ajab.
The plan is to have the classes to now share these with the entire school during Assembly over the next week.
This has been a school-wide effort with the MCD teachers coming to the fore and taking charge to have a school-wide event with 'Paplu Rakshas / Paplu the Giant'.
Thank you Nigam Pratibha Vidyalaya for spreading the joy of reading!
What started as a small step by Pratham Books to spread the joy of reading has become a movement. Last year Pratham Books initiated the One Day-One Story initiative on the occasion of International Literacy Day and we conducted over 250 storytelling sessions. This year we are delighted that over a 1000 sessions are happening across the length and breadth of the country. We will be sharing the stories of all our champions through our blog.

As in last year, this year also we were super exceited about the storytelling sessions and being part of a nation-wide initiative. However, we did not want to limit this to our classes only and shared with our school team - and they were happy to be a part and conduct storytelling sessions in each class in the school (in Hindi for Hindi medium).
Though we could share this with our teacher's only on Teacher's Day, the MCD teachers prepared over the next 2 days and we had school-wide storytelling and activities on 'Paplu' on 7th :)
