Pratham Books Champion : Kalpana Tikku

The following story was sent to us by Kalpana Tikku. She wrote...

I am hereby forwarding you some pics from our Literacy day celebrations in J&K. Since Srinagar was under shut down that time, we decided to shift our program to another district Anantnag. In fact, it was better as the children there celebrated literacy day and book reading for the first time. Paplu the giant was read out to them and they heard it with rapt attention. We had an interactive session with the children regarding the story as well as about story books. Some other stories from Pratham Books were also read aloud by the children themselves. Some wanted to narrate stories which they themselves had made up, Towards the end, we distributed prizes to the best readers and narrators as well as donated story books from Pratham Books to their school library. The program was a success as there were around close to a hundred children present at the book reading. Thanking you so much.

Thank you Kalpana for spreading the joy of reading!
