This story was sent to us by Lopamudra Mohanty who conducted three storytelling sessions in one go! Oue champions are really astounding us with their commitment to the TENTASTIC Campaign.
Start Date: 16th June 2014
Sessions: 3 for 1 hour each
Book: Junior Kumbhakarna by Arundhati Venkatesh
1st Session: 6 children( 5 to 6 year olds)
2nd Session: 7 children ( 4-5 year olds)
3rd Session: 4 children (5-6 year olds)
It was an action-based storytelling of Junior Kumbhakarna.
Children were exposed to words like burp, yawn, turned, rolled, stretched, trumpets, conches. They had to make the sounds and act out the action words. The Concept of guessing the theme of the story from the cover was very interesting in children coming up different ideas.
Children's views regarding illustrations were noted.
Activity of drawing one of their favourite character from the book made them aware about different characters in the story.

Thank you Lopamudra for helping us spread the joy of reading!
In 2014, Pratham Books is inviting people to become TENTASTIC Champions. This year's champions initiative is a year-long storytelling drive. Join our tribe of champions and commit to conducting ten storytelling sessions for children during the year (including the main one on International Literacy Day). Lets make reading contagious!
