Sri.Ayyappan Bal Gurukul sent us these images from their storytelling session in Bangalore. The storytelling session was coordinated byIndian Development Foundation. Indian Development Foundation is a national NGO working for health, education and development.

World Literacy Day was observed at Sri. Ayyappan Educational Institutions, Jayamahal, Bangalore.Mr.Arulraj and Mr.Ramakrishnan from IDF graced the occasion. Principl Mr.A.G.Prakash gave an introductory talk. Sri.Ayyappan Balgurukul children enacted the story of Takloo. Balgurukul teacher Mrs.Salma introduced the story and the characters. Ms.Laksmi and Mrs.Rizwana Begum directed the play. Children enjoyed the play. It was learning through play and activities.
Mr.Arulraj and Mr.Ramakrishnam interacted with the students to get their feedback.
Nearly 450 students and 25 Teachers watched the programme. A few parents of the participants also attended the story telling session. 16 Children participated either in narrating the story or enacting the play. They were assisted by 3 teachers.

In its third edition of the 'One Day - One Story' campaign, Pratham Books was joined by 1300+ storytellers who conducted 1500+ storytelling sessions. More than a 1000 steps towards a 'Reading India'!
What started as a small step by Pratham Books to spread the joy of reading has become a movement. In 2012, Pratham Books initiated the One Day-One Story initiative on the occasion of International Literacy Day . We will be sharing the stories of all our volunteer storytellers (Pratham Books Champions) through our blog.
